What a amazing time of year to get married in San Diego! It's been a long year and now it's time to celebrate.
Interfaith weddings are my favorite. I'm currently writing a ceremony for a Hindu bride and a Catholic groom who are also interested in Buddhism. So I called my contacts within each faith and they helped guide me through the proper protocols for the bride and groom. I re-read my theology books from graduate school took a great amount of care in writing the perfect ceremony. I used components all of the faiths and wrote a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony. I will officiate the ceremony this weekend, so i'll let you know how it goes! Often times, couples do not want any religion involved their wedding ceremony. That's great as well. I write your ceremony to suit you. I take great care in creating and delivering the ceremony just as you wish. So when are in in need of a wedding officiant who will spend time writing your ceremony, please reach out to me for a free consult.

Doctoral Dissertation Thesis by Deb Gordon "A study of perceptions among gay and lesbian individuals who have participated in commitment ceremonies and those who have not."
The primary purpose of this study is twofold. It is to ask gay and lesbian individuals who have participated in a commitment ceremony and those who have not engaged in a commitment ceremony to rate the following: (1) the degree of happiness provided by their relationship; (2) the level of sexual satisfaction provided by their relationship; (3) the amount of social support with which they are provided. Second it asks those same individuals to rate the degree to which they feel the following five stressors impact them: the degree of stress related to the family's reaction to the individual being gay or lesbian; the degree of stress related to the family's reaction to the individual's same-sex partner; the degree of stress related to violence and harassment encountered because of sexual orientation; the degree of stress related to discrimination at work due to sexual orientation; the degree of stress related to threat of HIV/AIDS due to sexual orientation. Excerpted from "Much ado about gay commitment ceremonies" By Maria Puente, USA TODAY 5/16/2004
No matter what happens politically and legally on the gay marriage issue, one thing is clear: It's great for the wedding business. The surge in gay unions - and media coverage of the controversy - has sent thousands of wedding planners into a swoon over the prospect of tapping a huge new market: 16.5 million gay men and lesbians, with a total buying power of $450 billion. The situation remains fluid: Massachusetts today becomes the first state to make it legal for gays to marry, though state voters could overturn that. Efforts continue to ban gay marriage in the U.S. Constitution. The Inland Valley Voice 10/23/02
When Deborah Gordon received her seminary degree a few years ago, she had no plans to use it. But when the Pomona resident began planning her own wedding she discovered how hard it was to find someone to bless her commitment to her partner and realized she had something to offer. Gordon was ordained about a year ago by the Universal Life Church in Modesto and now officiates the union of same-sex couples. It is a controversial topic, but to Gordon and her clients it is simple. |
